Tourist Place In Sylhet

SYLHET


Immaculately nestled in the picturesque Surma  valley amidst scenic tea plantations and lush green of tropical forests,Sylhet is a prime  attraction of all tourists.It beautifully terraced tea gardens, eye-soothing orange groves and pineapple plantations and hills covered with tropical forests form an entertaining landscape.
The Sylhet valley has a good number of haor ( natural wetlands ) . The land is also known as the land of famous Muslim Saint,Hazrat Shah Jalal ( RA ) the great torch bearer of Islam to this region. The shrine of this saint is located in Sylhet town. Some ethnic tribes like Monipuri,Khshia and Garo live in this area with rich cultural grandeur.Jaflong and Madhokundo is one of the preet place in Sylhet.Sylhet is linked the capital of Bangladesh by road,rail and air.

Tourist place Paharpur

PAHARPUR


Paharpur is a small village enriched with the most important and largest known monastery south of the Himalayas. The site is located 5 km west of Jamalganj Railway Station in Naogoan district and 60 km away from Bogra district town. This 8th century AD archeological site covers approximately an area of 27 acres of land. The architechture of the pyramidal cruciform temple consisting 177 cells is profoundly influenced by those of south-east Asia,especially Myanmar and Java. The archeological excavation reveals various antiquities for example potteries,coins,inscriptions,ornamental bricks and other clat made objects . The site is also extremly significant in terms of history of sculptural art, both in stone and terracotta, in Bangladesh . These antiquities have been preserved at the Varendra Research Museum at Rajshahi district. For the very rich historical importance UNESCO  has declared Paharpur Buddhist Monastery as a World Heritage Site.
